Why Missionary Kids Need Places to Be Seen
Missionary kids often grow up fluent in more than one culture. They learn to adapt, translate, observe, and build relationships across difference. Those experiences can form unusual empathy, creativity, and resilience. They can also bring repeated transition, complicated belonging, and the quiet pressure to appear capable. A young person may feel at home in several places and fully at home in none. Their strengths are real, but so are the costs of carrying change. Support should therefore...

The Story Behind 153
Every life carries a story worth seeing. 153 The Story began with a conviction that missionary kids and emerging young people should not have to wait until adulthood for someone to notice the gifts already taking shape in them. We bring together peers,...

At 153 The Story, awards are not the final measure of impact. They are an entry point into confidence, conversation, and continued growth. The deeper question is what becomes possible after a young person hears,...

2026 MK Art Competition: A Wider Circle of Belonging
The 2026 MK Art Competition extended the invitation to a new group of young creators and deepened 153 The Story’s commitment to recognition with purpose. Forty-four artists from 22 countries participated with 44 artworks. Thirty-nine recipients were recognized.
